Students, faculty and researchers at the Marine Science Institute are tackling issues that address a diverse array of challenges affecting oceans around the world. Your support will enable us to attract the finest faculty, scholars and students through gifts that support fellowships and salaries.

At the same time, the next generation of ocean scientists will learn about these issues through hands-on exhibits that demonstrate current research, at the Outreach Center for Teaching Ocean Science (OCTOS). This educational facility for K-12 students and the public under construction next door to MSI overlooks the Santa Barbara Channel and builds on a long tradition of outreach education at the Institute.

Gifts of all sizes are welcome. In accordance with University of California policy and approval, we will be pleased to acknowledge gifts to the endowment by naming funds and spaces in the Marine Science Institute, as well as prime spaces and exhibits at OCTOS.  These actions honor the vision and generosity of our donors and reflect our gratitude in perpetuity.

As of July 1, 2012, it is the policy of the University of California, Santa Barbara and the UC Santa Barbara Foundation that 6% of gifts and/or the income from gifts may be used to defray the costs of raising and administering funds.
