MSI’s 40th Anniversary Celebration Draws Crowds of SupportersMore than 200 people visited Marine Science Institute labs….examined sea critters….learned about paleoceanography….."printed" fish.....viewed a 40 year retrospective slide show and much more, during MSI’s 40th Anniversary celebration held on September 25. The Open House was followed by a reception in MSI’s enclosed courtyard.Many of the guests were former students of MSI-affiliated faculty, and the group also included one-time faculty and administrative staff, as well as current faculty and staff, and other friends of MSI. They had traveled from near (on-campus and the region) and far (Florida, Wisconsin, Arizona, the Bay area, to name just a few) to be part of the celebration. Friday’s revelry was followed by a barbeque at Goleta Beach on Saturday at which time-honored MSI traditions were replayed, including a cream-puff eating competition and a piñata for the kids.A facebook page has been established: Marine Science Institute at UC Santa Barbara, and pictures of both events are posted.
