Three Researchers Honored by Parasitology Association

 Dr. Armand Kuris,a Professor in EEMB and MSI researcher, was awarded two awards. He received the Eminent Parasitologist Lectureship and the Clark P. Read Mentor Award.  The Eminent Parasitologist Lectureship honors someone of eminence and international visibility for a substantial contribution to parasitology over a substantial period of time. The Mentor Award honors an individual who has demonstrated extraordinary leadership in the training of scientists who have successfully pursued the independent study of parasitology. Further, the individual has influenced the research and/or graduate education of a department, college or institution to significantly increase the number of students completing graduate level training in parasitology.Dr. Kevin Lafferty, a research with MSI, was awarded the Henry Baldwin Ward Medal. This award honors someone in mid-career, who, by self-directed investigations, has attained a position of leadership in some aspect of parasitological research.Dr. Ryan Hechinger, a researcher with MSI, was awarded the Ashton Cuckler New Investigator Award. This award honors someone who is within two years of having acquired a graduate degree dealing with parasitology. It is based upon the research they accomplished and grants they obtained during the five year period surrounding the award of their degree.
