I am a social scientist working on governance systems treated as institutional arrangements that steer societies toward desirable outcomes and away from undesirable outcomes. My applied work deals with marine systems, the polar regions, climate change, and environmental issues in China. Much of my current work focuses on issues relating to the governance of complex systems.
