Abstract
The goal of the proposed summer mentoring activities is to advance graduate research opportunities for under-represented groups and catalyze collaboration between UCSB Marine Science and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. We propose supporting two students in 2020, with a long-term view of increasing the scope of this partnership. This effort leverages the NSF-supported REU program in Ocean Global Change Biology (OGCB) hosted at UCSB to enrich the research experience and mentoring opportunities for UMES program participants during this initial phase.
