UC Coastal Resilience and Climate Adaptation Initiative

This two-year project involves an assessment of 3-6 local government case-studies and two workshops, to identify research needs and a UC research program/strategy to inform coastal adaptation to sea level rise in California. A primary focus will be to understand the role and integration of science, including geophysical modeling and monitoring, with technical and policy processes developing different "adaptation pathways" in each case jurisdiction. The project will result in a proposed research strategy for the UC system to develop a multi-disciplinary/multi-institution framework for addressing these and other aspects of the coastal adaptation challenge.
