The Marine Science Institute provides support for both scientific and administrative computing needs. MSI’s server room (located on floor 4L of the Marine Science Research Building) is cooled by dual chillers that are connected to the campus chilled water loop. Back-up for electrical outages is provided by a building generator. A wide range of research projects are housed in this room and are managed by MSI IT Staff. Data storage needs are handled by a storage array that dynamically moves data between storage tiers and cloud services. MSI also provides desktop support for devices located in the Marine Science Research Building.
