Congratulations to Dr. Alyson Santoro for receiving the Equalize People's Choice Award!

In June 2024, Nereid Biomaterials Principal Investigator and UCSB Microbial Oceanographer and Biogeochemist Alyson Santoro received an Equalize People's Choice Award during the Equalize Startups 2024 Pitch Competition and Symposium. 

Nereid Biomaterial is an interdisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and government experts working together to develop ocean-degradable plastics.

Their biomaterials have tunable degradation rates tested in real ocean conditions and are adaptable to current manufacturing processes.
