Description

SBC LTER is seeking an undergraduate student intern to assist with phytoplankton and zooplankton identification, data collection, and laboratory and field work on small boats. A minimum of 10 hours per week is expected during spring quarter. The student will develop an independent research project to complement a current field campaign for the Santa Barbara Coastal (SBC) Long Term Ecological Research (LTER) program assessing coastal ocean connectivity to kelp forest ecosystems. Full time support for summer 2022 is available. Scientific diving is not required, but certified AAUS divers with interest in subtidal research are highly encouraged to apply.  No prior experience with species ID is required, but some experience with microscopy is preferred. A strong interest in conducting independent research in coastal ecology is required.
