Abstract

Support CARB’s ongoing effort to better understand and identify impacts related to climate change in vulnerable communities by adding to our work on the Climate Vulnerability Metric  CVM), which was incorporated into the 2022 Updated Scoping Plan. While the Scoping Plan is a statewide actionable plan, understanding disparities in outcomes from climate change can help identify where to direct resources and support to avoid increases in disparities resulting from climate change and where impacts can be avoided by acting to reduce greenhouse gases (GHGs). This project will result in a framework to incorporate the various impacts the future wildfires have on communities into the CVM. In the future, this research and framework could augment the existing risk categories of the CVM, incorporating the lived-experience impact of wildfires in California.
