Abstract
Objectives of the research program
1. Quantify the seasonal and annual ET rates of Arundo stands in the Upper Santa Clara River using sap-flow sensors to measure water moving through plant stems.
2. Compare ET rates with native vegetation (e.g. willow, cottonwood, mulefat), including application of microtensiometers to measure drought stress.
3. Develop spatial models of Arundo ET using remote sensing and field data.
4. Provide data to support resource management and potential water savings from Arundo removal.
