Global efforts to achieve the sustainable development goals (SDGs) focus on both the protection of marine and terrestrial ecosystems as well as addressing societal inequities. Yet the interactions between conservation and equity have not been thoroughly examined. Therefore, the broad goal of this project is to undertake analysis of the synergies and trade-off between protecting biodiversity (SDG 14 and 15) and reducing inequalities (SDG 10). This project will aim to use data to inform and understand the complex interactions between key SDGs, thus allowing for better application of the SDGs in achieving more sustainable, biodiverse and just systems at a local, region, and global level.
