Abstract
The objective of this project is to support conservation recovery for sunflower sea star (Pycnopodia helianthoides) in California’s coastal waters. Advance the state’s biodiversity goals by implementing coordinated Vpec monitoring, exploring disease resistance, and designing and conducting scientifically rigorous temporary outplanting experiments. This work will establish best practices for sunflower sea star reintroduction and inform policy and management considerations.
