Abstract

This research will aid TNC in under-standing patterns of human and wildlife interaction in protected areas. This study will provide a state-wide picture of how humans, birds, and mammals use protected areas. The goal is to understand the consequences of these actions and how they may shift with ongoing environmental change to inform management policies. This work will provide an initial set of findings to support applications for additional funding sources. As California ramps up efforts to conserve more land, our results will provide insight into the unique role that TNC holdings, and the Dangermond Preserve in particular, may play in a network of protected areas throughout the state.
