The Partnership for Interdisciplinary Studies of Coastal Oceans (PISCO) is a consortium of university scientists who maintain a long-term research and monitoring program designed to understand the California Current Large Marine Ecosystem. PISCO’s research extends more than 1200 miles along the west coast and includes scientists from two University of California campuses, Santa Barbara and Santa Cruz; Oregon State University (Corvallis, OR); and Stanford University’s Hopkins Marine Station (Monterey, CA).
PISCO conducts an integrated approach and because their findings are relevant to conservation and management, the scientists actively share their results in public forums and in university classes. Major funding for PISCO is provided by the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, and the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation.
