Karina Johnston

Karina Johnston is currently a PhD student at the University of California Santa Barbara at the Marine Science Institute and Bren School of Environmental Science and Management. Karina's research interests are focused on improving the resilience of our coastlines to climate impacts, such as sea level rise, through the implementation of nature-based adaptation strategies such as dune restoration. She has also led dune, beach, and wetland restoration projects throughout southern California. Karina received her B.S. from UCSB and her M.S. from James Cook University. She is also a Board Certified Environmental Scientist and a Certified Ecological Restoration Practitioner.
